Originating back in 1977, EarthTrek’s humble beginnings were as an outdoor adventure tour company, bringing guests close to nature through whitewater rafting excursions, ski trips, and bicycle tours all over the West. Whitewater rafting on the American River eventually took the forefront and the main focus also became our beautiful river-side campground and event facility.
Over the course of several decades, Earthtrek was the source of many beloved summer memories spent rafting on the river, but beginning in 2015 we retired the rafting portion of the business by co-partnering with our next-door neighbor OARS: one of the most respected rafting companies in the world. By handing over the river logistics, we are able to dedicate even more passion and effort into what we have become known and celebrated for: our one-of-a-kind campground.
For those seeking a “glamping” getaway that is a bit more glamorous than your traditional campground, Earthtrek offers a variety of different sized cabin tents with padded beds and delicious meals prepared for our guests that will make you forget you are “roughing it”. For those searching for something even more unique, why not camp on the river? Situated directly over the river bank, nestled under lush Alder trees sit our infamous river tents. Prepare to bliss out to the peaceful sound of gently rushing water and be lulled to sleep at night by the South Fork. While we do still offer rafting trips in which Earthtrek handles camping and meals and OARS conducts the river portion of the trip, we are also the perfect venue for outdoor weddings, corporate events and picnics, as well as a variety of other group functions. Let Earthtrek be the host of your event with two large commercial kitchens and spacious dining areas, in which you leave the hassle of cooking to us, two dance/activity sections, clean and modern restrooms and showers, as well as plenty of space for whatever fun functions you may have in mind.
Over the past several years, Earthtrek has proven itself as a unique and sought-after wedding facility, especially amongst outdoor lovers desiring a style of wedding that is unlike any other. Imagine a ceremony that takes place right on the river, literally. On a deck overlooking the water is where you will say “I do” and after a gourmet dinner prepared by our staff, kick off a party to remember. There aren’t many places in the region where you can camp and enjoy a whole weekend to celebrate that special day. Overnight weddings also include the use of our luxury cozy cabin which boasts a queen-sized bed, air conditioning, electric fire, mini fridge, sink, and television. Typically our wedding couples occupy the cabin during the celebration. Our weekend wedding packages can be customized to fit your dream wedding ideas beginning with rehearsal dinner Friday night to breakfast Sunday morning and everything in between. A variety of camping and meal options are also available. There is even an option to make the wedding even more memorable by adding a full or half-day whitewater rafting trip.
